ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT THAT GENERATES SINE WAVES
RC Phase shift Oscillator; Phase shift oscillator
  • Circuit diagram for phase-shift oscillator using a JFET
  • Circuit diagram for phase-shift oscillator using a BJT

RC oscillator
  • Wien bridge oscillator with automatic gain control. Rb is a small incandescent lamp. Usually, R1 = R2 = R and C1 = C2 = C. In normal operation, Rb self heats to the point where its resistance is Rf/2.
Twin-T oscillator; Twin-t oscillator; Twin-T filter
Linear electronic oscillator circuits, which generate a sinusoidal output signal, are composed of an amplifier and a frequency selective element, a filter. A linear oscillator circuit which uses an RC network, a combination of resistors and capacitors, for its frequency selective part is called an RC oscillator.
Clapp oscillator
ELECTRONIC OSCILLATOR
Gouriet oscillator
The Clapp oscillator or Gouriet oscillator is an LC electronic oscillator that uses a particular combination of an inductor and three capacitors to set the oscillator's frequency. LC oscillators use a transistor (or vacuum tube or other gain element) and a positive feedback network.
Quantum harmonic oscillator
  • Time evolution of the probability distribution (and phase, shown as color) of a coherent state with |''α''|=3.
  • Superposition of three oscillating dipoles- illustrate the time propagation of the common wave function for different n,l,m
  • Another illustration of the time propagation of the common wave function for three different atoms emphasizes the effect of the angular momentum on the distribution behavior
QUANTUM MECHANICAL MODEL OF A PARTICLE IN A HARMONIC POTENTIAL WELL
Quantum vibration; QHO; Quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator; Quadratic potential; Harmonic potential; Quantum oscillator; Harmonic oscillator (quantum); Quantum-mechanical harmonic oscillator; Time-dependent quantum harmonic oscillator with an applied linear electric field; Linear harmonic oscillator; Quantum harmonic oscillators
The quantum harmonic oscillator is the quantum-mechanical analog of the classical harmonic oscillator. Because an arbitrary smooth potential can usually be approximated as a harmonic potential at the vicinity of a stable equilibrium point, it is one of the most important model systems in quantum mechanics.

Phase-shift oscillator

A phase-shift oscillator is a linear electronic oscillator circuit that produces a sine wave output. It consists of an inverting amplifier element such as a transistor or op amp with its output fed back to its input through a phase-shift network consisting of resistors and capacitors in a ladder network. The feedback network 'shifts' the phase of the amplifier output by 180 degrees at the oscillation frequency to give positive feedback. Phase-shift oscillators are often used at audio frequency as audio oscillators.

The filter produces a phase shift that increases with frequency. It must have a maximum phase shift of more than 180 degrees at high frequencies so the phase shift at the desired oscillation frequency can be 180 degrees. The most common phase-shift network cascades three identical resistor-capacitor stages that produce a phase shift of zero at low frequencies and 270° at high frequencies.

The first integrated circuit was a phase shift oscillator invented by Jack Kilby in 1958.
